The Mayor of Ferndown Cllr Mrs Julie Robinson

Mayor Cllr Mrs Julie Robinson

On Monday 13 May 2019, Town Councillors and members of the community came together to see Cllr Julie Robinson unanimously elected as the 38th Town Mayor of Ferndown. This will be her second term as Mayor having served in the role in 2015/16.

The Mayor said, “I am delighted to have been elected as Town Mayor for a second time – it is a great honour”. She announced that her charity for her mayoral year will be Macmillan Caring Locally.

Julie was born in Bedfordshire and moved to this area in 1986 when she bought a newsagent in Charminster, commuting daily from her home in Ferndown. The business ran successfully for four years after which she took time out to raise a family.

After canvassing her local area, she was elected to the Town Council in May 2011, her ambition to get the local community to be more involved, to have their say and to be listened to. She served on the Heatherlands Community Association for 8 years and held the role of Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator for 12 years.

She was re-elected in May 2015 and elected as a District Councillor for Ferndown Central Ward. She is now a Dorset County Councillor and is aiming to build strong relationships within Dorset Council.

Julie is also a staunch supporter of providing affordable and social housing. She hopes to encourage the town’s small businesses and encourage others to come to the area.
