Terry Cordery

Links South Ward

Prior to moving to Ferndown with my wife and two of our three children from Reading in 1978, I worked in engineering then changed my career to become a lecturer in mechanical engineering in various colleges of technology. The reason for moving to our present home was my love of sport, particularly football, and my wife’s desire to live in this beautiful part of Dorset. I taught technology and sport at Portchester and Poole Grammar Schools and then moved on to Bournemouth and Poole College from where I retired in 1997.

I continue to work with City and Guilds as a curriculum consultant and examiner in mechanical engineering and I am still involved with sport, acting as the Treasurer for Dorset Schools Football Association. I have now retired as a class 1 referee after fulfilling my dream to referee at Wembley. I served for 15 years as a retained firefighter at Ferndown and although retired from that activity I am still the Treasurer for the Firefighters’ Charity (Dorset).

Having retired and with a wide experience of engineering and teaching, I thought I could put it to some use and was co-opted onto the Town Council in 2008 and elected to represent South Links ward in May 2011. I would like to see and will work towards improving the town’s facilities i.e. recreational activities, affordable homes being built, and the control on the number of retirement homes within Ferndown. Also one of my hopes for the future is to see through traffic in the town reduced with the town centre free from articulated lorries and heavy goods vehicles.

I believe I am hardworking, trustworthy and approachable so please feel free to contact me on any issues.
