DORSET COUNCIL in partnership with BOURNEMOUTH, CHRISTCHURCH AND POOLE COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 as amended. All vehicles and horse riders will be prohibited from proceeding along Longham Bridge, Ringwood Road, Longham / Bournemouth between The Waterworks at the northern end of Longham Bridge, Longham and the junction with the service road to 1198, 1200 and 1202 Ringwood Road, Bournemouth, a distance of approximately 190 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation daily between 19:30 – 06:00 on 13 September 2023 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated the works will be completed by 30 September 2023.
This Order will enable South West Water safe access to carry out urgent works to bypass and replace damaged pipe across Longham Bridge.
The alternative route, which will be sign posted is as follows: A341 Wimborne Road to Northbourne Roundabout, A347 New Road, B3073 Christchurch Road and vice versa.
