Saturday 23rd March – Civic Service and Opening of the Abbey, Shaftesbury

The Civic Service at St Peter's Church was followed by a short walk to Shaftesbury Abbey where Mayor, Cllr Pritchard, officially opened the museum and gardens for the 2013 season and gave guests an opportunity to tour the grounds.

Friday 22nd March – Easter Coffee Morning, Barrington Centre

The 'Friday Coffee Club' meets at the Barrington Centre every week from 9.30am and provides an opportunity to meet and make new friends and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee & home-made cake. All are welcome. The Mayor was delighted to be invited to the Club on Easter Friday and chat with members.

Tuesday 19th March – 100th Birthday Celebrations, Ferndown Blind Club

It was pleasure for Cllr Cordery to revisit the Ferndown Blind Club after their Christmas meeting, this time on the occasion of Edith Green's 100th birthday celebrations. Edith has been a member of the club for some years and the Mayor was pleased to help cut the cake with Edith and join friends and members in wishing her a happy day. (See photo above.)

Monday 18th March – Chief  Scouts Awards Presentation Evening, East Dorset District Scout Council

This presentation evening recognises the many Scouts who strive to accomplish goals within the Scout movement. Held at the Ferndown Middle School and attended by family and friends, it is an occasion to reward young people for their hard work and achievements. The Mayor was pleased to accept an invitation from the District Commissioner to be part of the event.

Sunday 17th March – Mayor of Bournemouth's Charity Lunch, AFC Bournemouth Goldsands Stadium

St Patrick's Day was an opportunity for the Mayor of Bournemouth to host a special lunch in aid of the Charity Appeal Fund. Guests enjoyed lunch whilst supporting the Mayor's four chosen charities: the Jon Egging Trust; the Springbourne Family Centre; Bournemouth Leukaemia Fund and the Jigsaw Appeal for Women.

Thursday 14th March – Malta George Cross Island Association Annual Meeting, Royal British Legion

The Association's 71st anniversary of the presentation of the George Cross to Malta took place at the Royal British Legion. Invited by the Chair of the Association's West Branch, David Andrews, Cllr Cordery gave a brief welcome to guests and took part in a short ceremony in the Memorial Garden before the official proceedings began.

Tuesday 12th March – Bridport Civic Day

The Mayor of Bridport highlighted a number of locations in the town for his Civic Day, starting with a tour of the Bridport Leisure Centre, a visit to 'Amsafe Bridport' (2013 supplier of Innovative Tarian RPG Armour to the Armed Forces), a walk to Asker Meadows and the newly reinstated riverside path (combined agencies project), finishing with a visit to Palmers Brewery (the only thatched brewery in the UK).

Monday 11th March – ATC 2358 (Ferndown) Squadron, Annual Presentation Evening

The annual presentation evening took place at the Village Hall and awards were made to several members of the Squadron. Presented by the Officer in Charge, it is an occasion attended by proud family and friends. The Air Cadet Organisation (ACO) is a uniformed youth organisation, sponsored by the Royal Air Force. It is open to boys and girls aged 13 to 17 years.

Sunday 3rd March – A Contemporary Civic Service, Verwood Town Council

Cllr Simon Gibson, Mayor of Verwood, invited guests to his Civic Service at Verwood Methodist Church. The service was followed by light refreshments.
