As part of the £1.2 million project to refurbish the King George V recreational facilities in Ferndown, the Town Council has selected their preferred contractor to carry out the refurbishment to the play park. Following a tendering process, HAGS have been selected as the preferred contractor. HAGS have an excellent track record of developing quality, robust play areas.

The Chairman of the KGV Management Committee, Cllr Mrs Julie Robinson, commented “The KGV Trustees are very excited about the much-needed upgrade to this play park. Outdoor play is vital for children’s development and it is important the community has access to exciting and challenging play areas. I am pleased that the new play area will meet the needs of our young people and will certainly be used and enjoyed by generations to come.”

Cllr Mike Parkes, the Chairman of the Project Group overseeing the project added “The Project Group was very impressed with the design put forward by HAGS. It has a fantastic selection of equipment which is suitable for a wide range of children with ranging abilities. In developing the plans, the Town Council asked local school children what they would like to see in the park and the ideas and views from this have been incorporated into the final design.”

The play park will include equipment for children up to 12 years old with zoning for toddlers and juniors for ease of flow. The new equipment includes inclusive swings and roundabouts, slides, play panels, 2 climbing frames for toddlers and juniors, a net pyramid plus many more exciting pieces of equipment.

The play park has been closed to prepare for works to commence in January. It is anticipated that the park will be ready to enjoy before Easter 2020.
