Let the tennis courts be floodlit!

October 30 2014

The long awaited tennis court floodlights at King George’s Fields, Ferndown are installed and working.

King George’s Charity, together with Ferndown Tennis Club, were delighted earlier in the summer to be advised that we had been successful in obtaining a grant from Sport England for the floodlights. Orders were placed, designs drawn up and contractors appointed. The work commenced on 29 September with a promise of completion on 3 October. After a hiccough with the installation of the meters, the lights were first switched on an in use on 16 October

Chris Biddle, Professional Tennis Coach at Ferndown Tennis Club said, “The floodlights have been under discussion for at least the last 15 years and it’s wonderful to see them finally installed and in use. I am looking forward to being able to take evening coaching sessions, and for our club and members of the public to be able to play in the evenings throughout the winter”.

For more information about Ferndown Tennis Club or coaching sessions, please contact Chris on 07930 569342. Thanks to Kay Browning for the brilliant photos.
