Ferndown South and West Parley Neighbourhood Watch

Ferndown is the largest town in East Dorset, so Ferndown Neighbourhood Watch is organised as two separate groups.

Ferndown North covers all of Ferndown to the north of, and including the north side of Wimborne Road and Ferndown South and West covers all of Ferndown and West Parley to the south of, and including the south side of Wimborne Road.

What do we do?

We aim to promote all aspects of community based crime prevention and operate in close liaison with Ferndown North Neighbourhood Watch and the Dorset Police.

We help to foster a community spirit between neighbours and assist our members in protecting themselves and their properties by mutual co-operation between themselves and the Police.

We provide our members with information and advice related to home and neighbourhood security.

How do we do it?

We publish an informative quarterly magazine, "Community News" which we deliver to our members. This contains topical articles on local issues, information and advice on home and neighbourhood security and reports from our Neighbourhood Police.

We work with other local groups through the PACT (Partners and Communities Together) initiative, with Ferndown North NW and the Dorset Housing Association, We also work closely with our Dorset Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams. This enables us to focus our efforts in the most appropriate way.

We support local groups to further our aim to keep crime in Ferndown at its record low levels. As an example, we assist our local schools and youth organisations in raising awareness of social issues thus encouraging young people to play a productive and useful role in society. Where appropriate, we can provide financial help to organisations.

We publish a local traders list so that our Members can choose a trader that has been recommended by another Member. Many of these traders also offer a discount to Members.

Get Involved!

We have a network of volunteers who spend a few hours each quarter distributing magazines to their neighbours - a great way to get to know your neighbours and help the community. If you would like to help in this very worthwhile activity we would really like to hear from you. Contact our Chairman!
