Transforming Travel’s Sustainable Travel Scheme – Next Phase Due to Start

The next phase of works will take place between west of Stanfield Road and the recently completed works east of Ameysford Road. This phase incorporates the Church Road / Ameysford Road Junction with Wimborne Road East.

Construction of this phase is due to start on 11 September 2023 and anticipate completion in November 2023.
To help minimise the impact on traffic and ensure the work is carried out safely, there will be a temporary lane closure on Wimborne Road East (eastbound) during construction.
The eastbound closure will be in place between east of Batstone Way and Ameysford Road. The current eastbound closure will be removed between Ameysford Road and Victoria Road. Localised diversions will be in place during this lane closure.
The eastbound lane closure has been carefully considered. It reduces the need for multiple areas of temporary traffic management and helps minimise disruption during the works.
Advanced warning signage and diversion signage will be in place. We advise planning your journeys ahead and checking the project webpage for updates. For more details and a map of the works, please visit our project web page www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/transforming-travel-wimborne-road.
The TCF programme aims to encourage active, sustainable ways of getting around locally, reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality and helping residents to enjoy the area more on foot or other means such as bikes, scooters, mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

Construction of the scheme will be carried out by Dorset Council. Dorset Council are members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, the construction industry’s national scheme set up to raise standards of construction.
