Objection Planning application No 8/21/0207/ful
In response to the planning application to build an energy recovery facility in Hurn, Ferndown Town Council has submitted the following response to BCP Council in objection to the application.
“Ferndown Town Council is unanimous in its strong objection to the wholly inappropriate proposals found within application 8/21/0207/FUL submitted to BCP – the proposed development includes the installation of a low carbon energy recovery facility for the generation of electricity and heat through a low-emission thermal process using residual waste; including a new administration building and associated car park areas, associated reconfiguration of existing and permitted use, an increase in permitted waste throughout, landscaping and associated works.
The facility, which is to be expanded, is situated close to the southern boundary of the largest inland town in East Dorset and is therefore a major threat to the health of Ferndown’s 26,000 residents by reducing the air quality. Additionally, there are numerous and widespread Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in close proximity to the site particularly to the west, east and north. Also, close-by is a sizable outdoor sports club and Portfield School. Finally, there is no consideration to the impact of the movement of heavy vehicle movements in and out of the site on our residential areas of Longham and Ferndown. “
